Toyota is preparing for a major expansion of its product portfolio in India, with the Japanese carmaker expected to introduce several new SUVs, MPVs, hybrid models and electric vehicles over the coming years. The company has also been working towards reducing its dependence on badge-engineered models developed through its partnership with Maruti Suzuki.
Toyota’s upcoming product strategy is expected to include vehicles positioned across multiple segments, from affordable compact SUVs and family MPVs to premium hybrids and electric SUVs. While some models have stronger indications of an India launch, others remain under consideration or are based on international products.
Here are the Toyota models that could shape the company’s India lineup in the 2026–2027 period and beyond.
Toyota Veloz: A New Premium MPV
The Toyota Veloz could become an important addition to the company’s MPV portfolio if introduced in India. Expected to sit above the entry-level MPV segment, the Veloz is positioned as a more premium family vehicle and could target models such as the Maruti Suzuki XL6 and Kia Carens.
The version highlighted in the expected India lineup is said to use a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing around 106 hp and 138 Nm, with a 6-speed manual and CVT automatic expected to be offered.
The Veloz’s equipment could include a large trapezoidal grille, connected LED rear lighting, a 10-inch floating touchscreen, wireless charging and advanced driver-assistance technology. The expected price range is around ₹11 lakh to ₹16 lakh, although Toyota has not officially confirmed India pricing or specifications.
Toyota Yaris Cross: A New Hybrid Compact SUV
The Yaris Cross could give Toyota another entry into India’s highly competitive compact and midsize SUV market. Globally, the model sits below larger Toyota SUVs and combines a relatively compact footprint with modern styling and hybrid technology.
For India, the expected lineup could include a 1.5-litre petrol engine along with a 1.5-litre strong-hybrid powertrain paired with an e-CVT. An AWD version is also part of the international Yaris Cross lineup.
The model is expected to feature styling influenced by Toyota’s larger SUVs, along with features such as 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, panoramic glass roof and ventilated seats.
If Toyota brings the model to India, its expected price could fall between ₹13 lakh and ₹19 lakh, placing it against SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
Toyota Corolla Cross: Premium Midsize SUV
The Corolla Cross is another global Toyota SUV that has been discussed for the Indian market. Unlike several other models that are currently only speculative, Toyota’s India strategy has included the Corolla Cross project in its longer-term product plans.
Autocar India has reported that the Corolla Cross project is back on the table and could become one of the first models produced at Toyota’s upcoming Aurangabad facility, potentially around 2028–29. This means it is not a confirmed 2026–27 launch.
The SUV features a more premium cabin with a large touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control and leatherette upholstery in international markets.
An India-spec Corolla Cross could potentially compete in the space occupied by SUVs such as the Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier and Hyundai Tucson.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder 7-Seater
Toyota is also expected to expand the Hyryder family with a three-row version. The upcoming seven-seater Hyryder could provide the company with a new option between its existing midsize SUV and larger three-row products.
The expected powertrain combination includes a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine with manual and automatic transmission options, along with a strong-hybrid version using an e-CVT.
The longer body could accommodate either a conventional seven-seat layout or captain seats depending on the variant. Other expected equipment includes third-row AC controls, panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera and ventilated front seats.
Current industry listings place the expected launch around 2027, although timelines remain tentative.
The model could compete with the Mahindra Scorpio-N, Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and MG Hector Plus.
Toyota Raize: A Small SUV With Big Toyota Styling
The Toyota Raize could become one of the company’s most interesting options in the affordable SUV segment if Toyota decides to introduce it in India.
The compact SUV is sold in international markets with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing around 98 hp. A 5-speed manual and Smart D-CVT automatic are among the transmission options available in international markets.
Its compact dimensions could make it suitable for India’s crowded urban SUV segment. The design is also expected to feature an aggressive front end, large grille, alloy wheels and a modern dashboard with a touchscreen infotainment system.
An expected India price of around ₹8.5 lakh to ₹13.5 lakh would position it against the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue.
However, the Raize is not currently listed among the more firmly indicated upcoming Toyota India models, so its launch should be treated as an expectation rather than a confirmed plan.
Toyota Rush: A Rugged Three-Row SUV
The Toyota Rush could offer a very different proposition from the company’s existing urban SUVs. Known internationally as a compact three-row SUV, the Rush combines an upright design with a practical cabin and relatively rugged styling.
The India-spec version described in the expected lineup could use a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing around 104 hp, paired with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. A rear-wheel-drive layout would also make it distinct from many front-wheel-drive SUVs in the segment.
The expected equipment could include high ground clearance, three-row seating, roof-mounted AC blowers and six airbags.
With an expected price of approximately ₹14 lakh to ₹18 lakh, the Rush could potentially target buyers looking at the Scorpio Classic, entry-level Scorpio-N variants and Kia Carens.
Like the Raize and Veloz, however, an India launch has not been firmly confirmed by Toyota.
Toyota RAV4: Premium Hybrid SUV
The RAV4 is one of Toyota’s best-known global SUV nameplates and could potentially bring the company’s larger hybrid technology to India.
The international model uses a 2.5-litre petrol-electric hybrid powertrain paired with an e-CVT, with different drivetrain configurations depending on the market.
The RAV4’s expected equipment includes a large touchscreen, cooled front seats, modern digital displays and Toyota’s advanced safety technology. Its design also features prominent wheel arches and a more rugged SUV stance.
The expected India price mentioned for the model is around ₹35 lakh to ₹42 lakh, depending on whether Toyota chooses local assembly, CKD or CBU imports.
However, Toyota had previously stated that it had no confirmed India launch plan for the RAV4. Therefore, it should currently be considered a possible future model rather than a confirmed 2026–27 launch.
Toyota bZ4X: Toyota’s Electric SUV
The bZ4X could become Toyota’s major electric SUV offering in India. The model belongs to Toyota’s global battery-electric bZ family and is positioned as a premium electric SUV.
The version highlighted in the expected India lineup uses a 71.4kWh battery pack, with power outputs of around 201 hp in the front-wheel-drive version and 214 hp in the AWD version.
The SUV features an aerodynamic front design, slim daytime running lights, a split roof spoiler and a full-width LED rear light design.
An India price in the ₹50 lakh to ₹60 lakh range has been discussed, although current Indian automotive listings put the expected price closer to ₹60 lakh–₹65 lakh and a tentative launch around December 2026.
Toyota’s decision to introduce the bZ4X would mark an important step in expanding its battery-electric portfolio in India.
More Toyota Models Could Follow
Toyota’s India expansion is not limited to the eight models discussed above. Current industry reports and upcoming-car listings also point towards several facelifts and new-generation models.
The Glanza facelift is currently expected around October 2026, while the Innova HyCross facelift is expected around early 2027. A new Rumion and Urban Cruiser Taisor facelift are also listed for 2027.
Toyota is also working on a new generation of products developed more independently rather than relying heavily on badge-engineered Maruti Suzuki models. Autocar India reports that SUVs and MPVs will make up a large part of Toyota’s future product offensive in India.
Toyota’s India Lineup Is Set for a Major Expansion
Toyota’s upcoming India strategy could bring the company into several segments where it currently has limited representation. Compact SUVs such as the Raize and Yaris Cross could address the high-volume market, while models such as the Veloz and seven-seat Hyryder could strengthen its family-car lineup.
At the premium end, the RAV4 and Corolla Cross could expand Toyota’s SUV portfolio, while the bZ4X would give the company a dedicated electric SUV.
However, it is important to separate expected models from officially confirmed launches. Current industry listings confirm or tentatively list models such as the bZ4X, Glanza facelift and seven-seat Hyryder, while Toyota has not officially confirmed India launches for several of the global models discussed above.
If Toyota moves ahead with more of these products, the 2026–2027 period could mark the beginning of a much broader and more independently developed Toyota lineup for the Indian market.
