The Indian automotive market is heading into an extremely busy festive season, with several new cars and major facelifts lined up for September and October 2026.
From premium SUVs and luxury sedans to affordable hatchbacks and CNG models, the upcoming launches cover almost every major segment. September alone brings the Kia Sorento, Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift, BMW 7 Series and i7 updates, Renault Triber Turbo and Porsche Cayenne Electric, while October is expected to bring models such as the new Audi Q3 and Honda Elevate facelift.
Some of these launches are already confirmed, while others remain expected and could see their timelines change.
Here is a chronological look at the most important new cars expected in India over the next two months.
September 2026 Car Launches
Kia Sorento – September 4
The Kia Sorento is one of the biggest new SUV launches for the Indian market this year. Kia has positioned it as a premium three-row SUV, giving the brand a product to compete in the space occupied by models such as the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tayron.
The Sorento is particularly important because it brings strong-hybrid technology to Kia’s Indian passenger-car lineup, alongside a diesel powertrain. Reports indicate that the India-spec SUV gets a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol strong-hybrid setup producing around 238hp and 380Nm, while the diesel version uses a 2.0-litre engine producing around 202hp and 441Nm.
The SUV is also expected to offer features such as a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera and advanced driver assistance technology.
The Sorento was scheduled for September 4 and has now officially entered the Indian market, marking Kia’s entry into the country’s hybrid passenger-vehicle segment.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift – September 5
The 2026 Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift is another major launch of the month.
The premium hatchback receives a redesigned front end, updated features and a new Z-Series engine. One of the biggest highlights is the addition of Level 2 ADAS, bringing advanced driver assistance technology to the premium hatchback segment.
The Baleno also gets features such as ventilated front seats, wireless charging and other cabin upgrades. The new model starts at around ₹6.1 lakh, keeping it within reach of its existing customer base.
Under the bonnet, Maruti has replaced the older 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine with the newer 1.2-litre Z-Series three-cylinder petrol engine.
The facelift was launched on September 5, making it one of Maruti Suzuki’s most important product updates of 2026.
Mahindra Thar 3-Door Facelift – September
Mahindra is also preparing an update for the three-door Thar.
The facelift is expected to bring relatively subtle exterior changes, including a revised grille, updated headlamps and new alloy wheels. The bigger changes are expected inside the cabin.
The Thar could borrow several features from the larger Thar Roxx, including a bigger infotainment screen and other premium equipment. There has also been speculation around the addition of ADAS technology.
However, the mechanical package is expected to remain largely unchanged.
The Thar facelift is particularly important because Mahindra has steadily moved the Thar towards a more premium positioning while retaining its core off-road character.
BMW 7 Series and i7 – September 11
At the other end of the price spectrum, BMW is preparing updates for its flagship luxury sedans.
The BMW 7 Series facelift and BMW i7 facelift are scheduled for September 11. The updated models are expected to receive a redesigned front fascia, an illuminated kidney grille and further cabin technology upgrades.
BMW is also expected to introduce an updated operating system and retain one of the most distinctive features of the 7 Series — its rear-seat theatre screen.
Expected prices are around ₹1.85 crore for the petrol 7 Series and approximately ₹2.1 crore for the electric i7, although final prices can vary by variant and specification.
The i7 will continue to target buyers looking for an ultra-luxury electric sedan, while the conventional 7 Series will continue with its petrol-powered flagship positioning.
Renault Triber Turbo Petrol and CNG – September
Renault’s Triber is also set for a major update.
The biggest change will be the introduction of a turbo-petrol engine, addressing one of the key criticisms of the current MPV — its relatively modest performance.
The updated Triber is moving to Renault’s newer RGEP platform, while the engine bay has been modified to accommodate the turbocharged motor. The turbo-petrol unit is expected to be a 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine producing around 99bhp and 160Nm, similar to the engine used in the Kiger Turbo.
A turbo-CNG version has also been spotted testing and could be introduced around the same period.
The combination of seven-seat practicality, turbo-petrol performance and CNG could make the updated Triber an interesting proposition for family buyers.
Porsche Cayenne Electric – September 30
September will end on a very different note with the arrival of the Porsche Cayenne Electric.
The fully electric luxury SUV is scheduled to make its Indian debut on September 30. It will be offered in two versions — the Cayenne Electric and the performance-focused Cayenne Turbo Electric.
Prices are expected to start at around ₹1.77 crore, with the Turbo Electric positioned around ₹2.27 crore.
The Cayenne Electric uses a massive 113kWh battery pack and offers all-wheel drive. The standard version is expected to deliver more than 600km of claimed range, while the Turbo version focuses heavily on outright performance.
With its combination of luxury, performance and long-range electric capability, the Cayenne Electric will become one of the most expensive EVs available in India.
October 2026 Car Launches
Skoda Slavia Facelift – Price Announcement in October
Skoda’s updated Slavia will be another important launch for the midsize sedan segment.
The facelift has already been revealed, with bookings open ahead of its festive-season arrival. Skoda is expected to announce prices in the first week of October.
The updated Slavia gets several new features, including a 360-degree camera and rear-seat massage function.
One of the biggest mechanical changes is the introduction of a new eight-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox for the 1.0-litre TSI engine, replacing the earlier six-speed automatic. The 1.5-litre engine continues with its seven-speed DSG.
These updates should help the Slavia compete more strongly against the Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Virtus.
Toyota Glanza Facelift – October
Following the Baleno facelift, Toyota is expected to introduce its updated Glanza.
Since the Glanza shares its basic platform and powertrain architecture with the Baleno, the facelift is expected to adopt the new 1.2-litre Z-Series three-cylinder engine.
However, Toyota could differentiate the Glanza from its Maruti counterpart through feature availability and positioning. One major possibility is that the Toyota version may not receive the same ADAS package.
The Glanza facelift is expected to arrive during the festive period, strengthening Toyota’s presence in the premium hatchback segment.
Audi Q3 – October 16
Audi’s next-generation Q3 is among the most important luxury SUV launches scheduled for October.
The third-generation Q3 represents a complete generational change rather than a simple facelift. It gets a much more aggressive exterior design, a larger grille and a new split-headlamp arrangement.
The cabin is also expected to be significantly different from the outgoing model, with a more technology-focused dashboard and larger digital displays.
Audi has now confirmed that the new Q3 will launch in India on October 16, 2026. It is expected to be priced around ₹55 lakh–₹60 lakh.
The India-spec SUV is expected to use a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive.
The new Q3 will continue to compete against the BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA.
Honda Elevate Facelift – October
Honda is also preparing the first major facelift for the Elevate.
The updated SUV is expected to arrive around October, with recent reports pointing towards an early-October launch window.
The facelift is expected to receive revised bumpers, updated lighting elements and a refreshed dashboard.
Honda could also bring several features that are currently available through the accessory route directly into the factory-equipped feature list. These include a 360-degree camera and ventilated front seats.
Importantly, the facelift is expected to retain the existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, along with manual and CVT transmission options. The expected update is therefore more focused on styling, technology and equipment rather than a major mechanical transformation.
Hyundai Bayon – October
Hyundai is also expected to introduce the Bayon in India as a new crossover positioned between the Venue and Creta.
The Bayon is expected to measure around 4.2 metres in length, giving Hyundai another product in the increasingly popular crossover space.
The model is expected to feature a distinctive exterior design and a heavily updated dashboard. Its positioning could make it an interesting alternative for buyers who find the Venue too small but don’t necessarily want to move up to the Creta.
However, the Bayon’s exact India launch timeline and specifications should be treated as expected rather than fully confirmed.
Other Festive-Season Launches to Watch
Tata Tigor Facelift
Tata Motors could also bring a significant update to the Tigor during the September-October period.
The facelift is expected to follow some of the design and interior changes seen on newer Tata models. The cabin could receive an updated dashboard layout, new upholstery and additional equipment.
The mechanical package is expected to remain largely unchanged.
Current industry listings also point towards an October window for the updated Tigor.
Renault Duster Hybrid
Another highly anticipated product is the Renault Duster Hybrid.
The Duster has already made a comeback in the Indian market, but the addition of a hybrid powertrain could make it significantly more attractive to buyers looking for improved fuel efficiency without moving completely to an EV.
However, the hybrid version remains an anticipated launch rather than one with a firmly confirmed date, so its timing could move towards late October or even November.
September and October 2026 Could Be Huge for Car Buyers
The next two months are shaping up to be among the busiest periods of 2026 for India’s automotive industry.
The launch calendar covers everything from an affordable premium hatchback like the Baleno to three-row SUVs such as the Sorento, luxury sedans like the BMW 7 Series, electric performance SUVs like the Porsche Cayenne Electric and new-generation luxury SUVs such as the Audi Q3.
There is also a clear shift in what manufacturers are prioritising.
Hybrid technology, ADAS, CNG powertrains, larger screens, better comfort features and electrification are becoming increasingly common across different price brackets.
For mainstream buyers, the Baleno, Triber, Glanza, Slavia and Elevate updates will be particularly important. Meanwhile, buyers in the premium and luxury segments will have several major new options to consider.
With the festive season approaching, manufacturers are clearly preparing a strong product offensive — and September and October 2026 could see some of the most interesting new cars of the year reach Indian roads.
